In one of the latest videos from the series “Conversations with TLIS”, it was indicated that many former Certificate in University Teaching (CUT) participants have been asking to re-enroll in the CUT, to get access to the most recent content from that particular professional development experience.

Given that so many persons have been asking for it, we in TLIS certainly intend to deliver. Yes, everyone who has successfully completed the UTT’s CUT training course – eight cohorts have been completed to date – will be able to access the information in the most recent version of the CUT, regardless of when one completed the CUT.
We at TLIS are creating a course-space on Canvas titled CUT Alum, and the following will characterize this new course-space:
- All participants who have successfully completed the CUT
- All updated information that exists in the most recent version of the CUT
- Opportunities to participate in future webinars related to upcoming versions of the CUT
- Opportunities to collaborate with peers who have completed the CUT and even extend the conversation into UTT’s community of practice i.e. CoPIL
- Self-assessments to determine whether you need re-training in various technology tools, course design approaches or pedagogical/instructional strategies and more.
Just to be clear. You are not required to engage in a range of activities to get a new certificate. No. This space allows you to access the most updated CUT training resources on demand. Consume the resources you need, when you need it. It means that persons who completed the CUT from cohorts 1-2 will see the most drastic changes in the content/resources. Cohorts 3-5 will see some moderate changes in the content, and from cohorts 6-7, you will see some minor changes in content/resources. Of course, persons from cohort 8 will see no change in content, as this is the most recent version of the course 😊. However, the CUT Alum course space will certainly be beneficial to all previous participants of the CUT, over time.
Therefore, within the first quarter of 2025, when you see a new course “pop-up” on your Canvas Dashboard titled, CUT Alum, you know exactly what it’s all about. Do note that our intention is to first make the space available with all of the most recent information. Then, over time, we will be adding the self-assessments. Any CUT-related webinars, of course, will occur during the May-Aug period when the CUT is usually delivered.
We do hope you are able to appreciate the CUT Alum course-space, as we strive to continually support and empower you as a faculty member of staff at UTT.
