The online SEQ system is the official form of student evaluation of teaching used at The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT), administered via online questionnaire/survey. Each course with five (5) or more students should participate in the online SEQ. Presently; the online SEQ system consists of the following fundamental facets:

  • An online Confidential Application which generates online surveys that students complete for each course for which they are registered and reports for faculty to monitor their students’ participation in and response rate of those surveys.
  • A Communication Management System facilitating emails sent to invite and remind students to go online and complete their survey. Students can also access the online survey from within their UTT myPortal and Canvas online courses.
  • An online Reporting System allowing faculty, Programme Professors and their designees, to view and access the electronically processed results of their course evaluations on demand.

The online SEQ software application is Course Evaluations, a confidential, web-based survey application used to evaluate courses, instructors, students, peers, etc. Course Evaluations is the official teaching and learning evaluation software utilized by UTT. Instructors sign in to Course Evaluations to access their faculty Response Portal (from anywhere, at any time) from any device, including a mobile device, which has internet access. Similarly, students can sign in to Course Evaluations to access their student Response Portal, from any internet-ready device to participate in their evaluation surveys. As an application, Course Evaluations is:

  • reliably self-serve (empowering users, making the UTT stakeholder technology experience continually more efficient and seamless),
  • relatively user-friendly (easy to use, much like using a personal webmail account such as Gmail, Yahoo Mail, and Hotmail or Outlook).
  • relevant to ensure students have an optimal learning experience and advise instructors about the effectiveness of their teaching.

Students, instructors, programme leaders, and university administrators access the Course Evaluations Response Portal to:

  • Provide feedback via surveys
  • Monitor survey participation
  • Access survey results/reports
  • Analyze reports to improve teaching

The Centre for Teaching, Learning, and Instructional Support (TLIS), previously known as The Learning Centre (TLC), by institutional mandate, is responsible for the administration of UTT’s online SEQ system. TLIS is also responsible for authoring and implementing UTT’s course evaluation policy for the online SEQ. Currently, to conduct online SEQs, TLIS uploads into Course Evaluations, course data electronically received from the Student Information System (SIS), the official repository of student enrollment data.

If you cannot sign in to Course Evaluations successfully or the online SEQ does not appear to be operational, please contact TLIS via email survey [survey@utt.edu.tt] for assistance.
