A course may not appear on your Moodle dashboard for several reasons. Complete the checks below before submitting a support request.
1. Confirm that you are using the correct Moodle environment #
UTT operates separate Moodle environments:
- Academic Moodle for formal undergraduate and postgraduate courses
- Professional Development Moodle (ProDev) for staff training, workshops and other non-academic courses
A course assigned in Academic Moodle will not appear on the ProDev dashboard, and vice versa.
2. Check your Dashboard filters #
The course may be available but hidden by the current dashboard filter.
- Open the Dashboard.
- Locate the Course overview section.
- Check the following filters:
- In progress
- Future
- Past
- Starred
- Removed from view
If the course was previously removed from view, restore it so that it appears on the main dashboard.
3. Check the My Courses page #
Select My Courses from the main navigation and search for the course by its code or name.
The course may be listed there even if it is not currently displayed in the Course overview section.
4. Confirm your registration or teaching assignment #
For academic courses, Moodle access is based on the official enrolment and teaching information received from the University’s student information systems.
Confirm that:
- The student is officially registered for the course.
- The lecturer is officially assigned to the course.
- The correct course code and semester were selected.
- The registration or teaching assignment has been fully processed.
Recent changes may require some time to appear in Moodle.
5. Check whether the course has started #
A future course may appear under the Future filter instead of In progress.
The course may also be unavailable if:
- The semester has not yet started.
- The course shell has not yet been released.
- The course is hidden from students.
- The lecturer has not completed the required course setup.
6. Confirm that you are checking the correct course shell #
Faculty may have access to multiple versions of a course, including:
- Master course shells
- Current semester course shells
- Previous semester courses
- Sandbox courses
Ensure that you are searching for the correct course code, semester and academic year.
Students who cannot see a course #
Students should first confirm that:
- They are registered for the course in MyPortal.
- Their registration is active.
- They are using Academic Moodle.
- They are checking the correct semester.
- The lecturer has made the course available to students.
Still unable to locate the course? #
Submit a request to Support TLIS and include:
- Full name
- UTT staff or student ID
- Course code and course name
