002 – Which Moodle Site Should I Use: Academic or Professional Development?

UTT uses two separate Moodle environments. The correct environment depends on the type of course or activity you are trying to access.

Academic Moodle #

Use Academic Moodle for UTT’s formal undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Examples include:

  • Courses assigned for the current academic semester
  • Master course shells used for course development
  • Sandbox courses provided for practice or testing
  • Courses connected to official academic programmes

Access Academic Moodle through the Moodle Academic icon on the UTT MyCampus dashboard.

Professional Development Moodle #

Use Professional Development Moodle (ProDev) for staff training, professional development and other non-academic learning activities.

Examples include:

  • Faculty Transitioning to Moodle Workplace
  • Staff development courses
  • Institutional training programmes
  • Workshops and short courses
  • Orientation and professional certification activities

Access to ProDev Moodle is normally provided through an automated email containing your username, temporary password and login link.

How can I tell which site I am using? #

Check the course you are attempting to access:

  • If it is part of an official undergraduate or postgraduate programme, use Academic Moodle.
  • If it is a workshop, staff-development activity or training course, use ProDev Moodle.

Academic Moodle and ProDev Moodle are separate environments. Your login method, dashboard and available courses may therefore be different on each site.

I can access Moodle, but my course is missing #

First, confirm that you are logged in to the correct Moodle environment.

If the course is still not visible, contact Support TLIS and provide:

  • Your full name
  • UTT staff or student ID
  • Course code and course name
  • The semester or academic period
  • The Moodle environment you accessed
  • A screenshot of your dashboard, where possible
